HOW SOON BEFORE A MOVE SHOULD YOUR START PACKING?

Have you recently closed on the property of your dreams or received approval for the ideal apartment? Most likely, you experience a great weight being lifted off your shoulders. While locating housing allows you to cross off a significant item from your to-do list, you now face the challenging process of packing your whole home in cardboard boxes in time for moving day.

How far in advance should you begin packing? The quick response is: Get going as soon as the move is approved. There is no denying that packing takes up the majority of moving time. As moving day draws near, use this packing schedule to keep you on track.

·    Six- Eight Weeks Before a Move

ü  Before moving day, decide what to keep and pack whatever you won't need. Start by organizing your closets, garage, attic, and basement. Create distinct heaps afterwards for trash, donations, and sales.

ü  Do some research on the relocation firms you are considering employing. Request relocation estimates, read testimonials, and compare prices. Demand insurance documentation from any business you are considering. Keep in mind that if an uninsured mover causes property damage or personal injuries, you may be held liable.

·         Four-Six Weeks Before a Move

ü  Set up a moving sale. This stage can be finished far enough in advance to give you time to donate or throw away any products that don't sell.

ü  Choose a moving company, then secure the date of your move.

ü  Purchase packaging materials. Your moving sale should have assisted you in downsizing, allowing you to purchase fewer boxes and simplify moving days.

ü  One Month Before a Move

ü  Adopt a labelling system as you start packing to keep your stuff organized. To make it easier for you to find what you're searching for later, think about snapping photographs of the contents of each box. You may also download packing software to help you keep track of your possessions, such as Move Planner or Sortly.

ü  Start packing any decorations with no practical use and anything in your storage area, as well as any china or holiday décor you rarely use.

ü  Please make arrangements to have goods that didn't sell at your moving sale picked up for charities by contacting them.

·         Two weeks Before a Move

ü  Anything you do not deem "necessary" for everyday usage, start packing.

ü  Organize important papers to ensure they are properly packed in the same box, including checks, stocks, insurance policies, and bank account statements.

·         One Week Before a Move

ü  Completely pack the remaining non-essential stuff.

ü  Start assembling your "day of" box, which will have everything you'll need before the move and as soon as you get to your new house. Start setting aside necessities, so they don't accidentally get packed, like toilet paper, cleaning supplies, a change of clothes, and silverware.

·         The Day Before a Move

ü  Clean the refrigerator, defrost the freezer, and discard any perishable food.

ü  All furniture and appliances you need to bring should be clearly marked.

ü  During the relocation, carry your "day of" box, cash, jewellery, credit cards, and a chequebook.
