Important Packing Tips
It is important to know what not to pack when moving. All movers must follow certain rules and regulations to keep everyone safe. Some things, like exercise equipment, are best stored safely and securely by professionals. Use this list as a guide, but we don't have to bring everything on it. Don't be afraid to call our mover if we want to ask them something specific.
We
should pack many things for a move and just as many things we should not. While
packing, it's important to consider the safety of items, including the driver
and the people helping us.
There
are many important things we shouldn't put in our moving boxes on this list.
Some of these tips may seem obvious, but many people find out the hard way what
to pack and what not to pack. Following this advice won't have to go through
the same things more than once.
1. Domestic Cleaners
Bleach
and other household cleaners can make dangerous fumes and even start a fire if
they are mixed with other chemicals in the back of the moving truck. Remember
that the temperature in the back of a moving car could soon rise. When heated
to these high temperatures, chemicals can produce dangerous or deadly fumes.
2. Flammable Lighter Fluid
Never
put lighter fluid in a suitcase because it can catch fire. If something is left
in the back of a hot car for too long, it could start a fire.
3. Fertilizer and Weed Killer
We
are good at growing plants. It would help if we didn't put our gardening tools
in the same box as the weed killer and fertilizer. They are very explosive,
just like the chemicals we just talked about. Fertilizers and weed killers are
very flammable, so they should never be left in a hot car or garage, let alone
for a long time while being moved.
4. Perishables
It's
not a good idea to move things that go bad quickly, like food, plants, and
other living things, in a moving vehicle. We shouldn't bring anything that will
go bad quickly, like fresh fruit, open food packages, cold or frozen dishes, or
alcoholic drinks. Dry food packages shouldn't need to be opened to be safe to
eat.
5. Ammunition
Obviously,
we shouldn't put ammunition in the car's moving trunk. If the ammunition gets
too hot, a terrible thing could happen. Ammunition should only be kept and
moved in a refrigerator or air conditioning vehicle. Don't forget to keep our
guns and their bullets in different places.
6. Batteries of Cars
It is dangerous to move car
batteries in the back of a moving truck because leaks and fires could happen.
Also, if car batteries leak, workers could get burned or hurt in other ways.
7. Moving Documents
Even though we might need our
moving papers at some point, we won't be able to find them if we put them in
one of the many boxes. It would help if we kept all our moving paperwork on
hand in case we have any questions or get into a fight with the mover.
8. Valuables Like Money, Important Papers, Jewelry, Deeds
You need to know about packing boxes for long distance moving what you
should pack and what not. Don't put anything valuable in boxes that the moving
truck will move. There's no way to know they won't get lost or stolen, so we
should probably take them with us.
9 Things That Are Explosive, Corrosive, Or Flammable
- · Acid and Gasoline Poisons
- · Charcoal
- · Fertilizer and paints
- · Car Battery and Lighter Fluid
- · Matches
- · Nail Polish and removers
- · Bleach, areoles and kerosene
- · Pool Chemicals
- · Fireworks
- · Motor Oil and Thinners
- · Weapons
10. Dispose of Perishables
For
example, food and plants might go bad or die while being moved. Before we load,
we should empty our freezer and refrigerator for at least 24 hours. Keep our
appliances' doors open to let them air out and prevent mildew and bad smells
from building up.
